KÜHNE HELDEN – BOLD HEROES

„To measure the wealth of a city, just count the trees”, says a medieval proverb. According to this perception Hamburg is a very wealthy city. Over 250,000 trees line the streets, shaping the cityscape of this Hanseatic metropolis for centuries. The diversity of trees is not only a soothing antithesis to the fast-paced city, but offers a special visual charm as well. This is particularly true in winter. An amazing juxtaposition produces constantly new graphic configurations and suspense between the stark, static architecture and the delicate organic structures of the trees. The individual structures of long standing trees intuit how they have adjusted over and over again to the changes and challenges of their environment and withstood all historic events.
